Hertz
We landed and transfered directly to Hertz for the rental car. Arriving at the lot, we discovered that we had a choice between all the Nissan Sentra in either black or gray.
We didn't have far to go to Santa Monica and chateau de Blake and Lil lee, where Blake waited to guide us to our waiting parking spot. It was a very civilized experience.
Lil lee was out running errands. We dropped our luggage and took a quick tour of the neighborhood, followed by walk down to the beach. Plans were made to meet up with Lil lee, and Blake called a Waymo. It was our first trip in a self-driving car. Of course, I spent the ride messing around with the controls (locked out), and observing the representation of the LiDAR "vision." The car drove quite well. As I mentioned in the Iceland write up, Blake gets motion sick when he is not the driver. This does not happen in a Waymo.
We met up on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice. This little shopping street is a who's who of Insta ads (Buck Mason, HOKA, Goodr, Vuori, lululemon, Madewell, etc). Of course, I was pleased that Peak Design LA was also there. I had just backed the Kickstarter for the Roller Pro, so it was cool to see it in person.
After wandering for a bit, we stopped at Gjelina for some snacks.
